The Top 5 Disappointing and Exciting PS Vita E3 2012 Anncouncements

Top 5 Disappointing and Exciting PS Vita E3 2012 Announcements

E3 came and is now gone in the video game history books. Lots of things were announced and revealed to the public that either made gamers excited or disappointed. Though many sites have the PS3 and PS Vita bunched up under one category, here I will be looking at PS Vita’s E3 standalone and comparing it to my predictions seeing how the Vita faired. These are the top 5 disappointing and exciting PS Vita announcements/predictions of E3 2012

5) Triple A Games…???

We got more information on Soul Sacrifice and LittleBigPlanet Vita. We also got the announcing of Playstation All-Stars Battle Royal, Dust 514, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation. That’s it. No info on the Call of Duty or the BioShock Vita game, and certainly (other than Soul Sacrifice) no PS Vita exclusives. Also, as predicted most of these (with the exception of Assassin’s Creed III: Liberations and MAYBE Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time) won’t come out till next year. Well so much for system selling games this year eh?

4) PS One Support…kinda

Wow this bumped down a lot since my last article. Here’s why, only a select few PS One classics were announced for PS Vita download. That list fails in comparison to what PS Vita’s predecessor has to offer. What a sad turn of events.

3) No PSP Support or Ambassador/ Passport Program Announced

How many times do I have to say that Sony doesn’t know who they are marking towards before I sound like a broken record? Yes I understand if you want to play classics just buy the older system that is required for it. Funny Nintendo had backward compatibility for years for their handhelds from Gameboy Advance and onward. Why must Sony’s second handheld be any different?

2)  Rays of Hope

Regardless of what Sony has failed to live up to, they were able to at least give PS Vita owners nifty announcements one in app form. First they announced an app that helps you make Graffiti digitally called T@G, which is neat. Hopefully they find a way to incorporate it into the Paint app that the Vita has. Lastly they announced a game called Guacamelee. Though both of these have no release date as of yet, it’s great to know good things are coming. Those aren’t the only things though an Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation bundle with the Crystal White Vita. Though it isn’t what we might have been looking for, at least those were bundled with 4GB memory cards.

1)      Rumors = No Price Cut

There are now tons of rumors swirling around the internet about what is going on with the PS Vita since E3’s closure, now that there no price cuts for anything Vita related announced (in some circumstances). Though they are just rumors, just the thought of most of these rumors coming true is as epic as these announcements.

  1. PS2 Compatibility for PS Vita: Almost every Gamer went from predicting the memory card price cuts, to implementing the downloadable PS2 games onto PS Vita. Though this isn’t exactly true, imagine the possibilities if became a reality. You can play God of War on the go!!!
  2.  Possible Global Price Cut: I know I lied. Europe got a price cut for the PS Vita. This is temporary, and from what rumor has it if it does well enough it might go global. I understand I had this last in my previous article, but this was so far off the radar due to not expecting any price cuts. Since this though, I wonder how Sony can not take advantage of this to increase Vita’s credibility.
